“This is it!” the man thought to himself. “Finally”
He had been dreaming of moving from the boring town of Pleasantview since he could remember. Eugene Marlon Remlinger was his name and he had finally been able to get away. The man looked around in his new apartment, it was beautiful. But even though being perfect he felt a bit sad. The money he used to buy it and the furniture had he inherited from his late father. His father’s passing came as no surprise given the old man’s age and him being ill. But still, months had passed and Gene stilled grieved. Gene’s mother moved to the sun coast and painted in silence there. He had been close to his parents who had met at an old age. Their marriage had been happy and had resulted in Eugene. He was named after his grandfather but the middle name, Marlon, was given to him after Marlon Brando. His parents had a huge interested in film and Eugene inherited that interest. He wanted to become a famous director and this was the main reason why he had moved to Bridgeport.
Eugene quickly settled in, he loved city life. His first night he made a healthy salad and invited his next door neighbours. Gene had always been sociable and asked them about how to achieve his goal of becoming a director.
“Contacts is the key to success” they both said and then added that Eugene probably should get a job as an extra at the local film studio. It wasn’t good salary but at least he would get contacts. Eugene smiled at the thought, perhaps he would get to know a famous actor och director!
The very next day Eugene went over to the film studio. He knocked on the door and was in luck. They had a shortage of extras and Gene was employed the same day. He loved it. Everywhere was cameras, actors, lights and the spectacular feeling of creating film. Eugene felt totally at home and hoped that this would be the beginning of something wonderful.
The shooting for the day was to an end. Eugene was about to go home when he was suddenly stopped by one of the actors.
“Hello pretty boy” the woman said and he smiled awkwardly at her. He had never seen himself as pretty nor handsome, but he had to be honest. He had put a lot of money and effort into his looks, he fixed his hair in the morning and kept his wardrobe up to date.
“We are going to a party, wanna join?” she then asked and he agreed. They drove over to the place for the party and the actress added, “you know, it’s a swimsuit party, so get changed!” Gene looked at her and said that he had to retrieve his swimsuit at home. They swung by and he changed quickly.
Party, it’s truly was a party. Everywhere were people dancing and drinking. Eugene joined them happily and was keen on getting to know the actress better. Her name was Katrina Joy and Eugene was impressed by her. She was pretty and successful, a perfect contact.
